Susan Reid, R.N., L.M.T., devotes herself full-time to massage and working with the energies in the body through Therapeutic Touch. She is certified in Orthobionomy, a gentle and profound technique which promotes physical and emotional healing. Located in Largo Florida area.
Susan graduated from the Humanities Center School of Massage in 1985 and has maintained a practice as a licensed massage therapist for the past 30+ years while working as a Registered Nurse from 1970 to 1999.
I can work deeply using heavy or light pressure. The techniques used are all under the heading of "Neuromuscular." I do massage work using "direct" or deep pressure; and I do work using "indirect" work. Releases of muscle tissue and tension can be accomplished with heavy pressure all the way to a very light touch.
I am skillful in using the treatment methods that offer deep work on the body without using painful techniques. I believe this approach to therapy allows the body’s inherent, self-healing potential to blossom.
As well as the average healthy person, I am experienced working with the frail, the person in severe pain, and with those whose conditions are caused by abuse, making the need for these specialized techniques valuable.
My focus and experience allows my work to be directed by “listening” to the tissues of the body. I let the muscle tissue’s responses direct my massage work.
I have thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of my work in the field of bodywork since the beginning of my practice in 1985. The scheduling, answering the phone in-person whenever I can, decorating the office, buying supplies, going to continuing education classes, and most of all doing bodywork. I love it all. It brings me great joy.
